Villa Requests - Question

Hi all - in the past couple of years our trips have been preceded by an email from the resort asking for our preferences. Up to last year the form allowed me to actually enter a request and specify actual buildings and or villas I've previously stayed in. We are a few weeks away from a trip to Grand chateau and Canyon villas and the emails were restricted to just asking if we wanted a low floor or high floor (Grand chateau) and what our 1st and 2nd choice locations were at Canyon Villas (near pool, high floor, near pool, low floor). But that was as specific as it got with no opportunity on the form to request a specific building.

Do people still also call the resort and request a specific location?

I used to call and recently I've started receiving a pre arrival email directly from the resort involved as a follow up to the generic Marriott email. I've found by just hitting return on the second email you can be more specific on your requests. They have replied to my return email with usually a comment like "your preferences on your upcoming stay have been updated". Or you can just pick up the phone and call room control at the resort and give them your request.

Yes, I still call the resort, usually about a month prior to check-in. The reply is always that they can't guarantee anything and I understand that, but we've always been pleased with our villa placements. My philosophy is that it doesn't hurt to ask.

Just got my pre-arrival email for our 10/26 at Cypress Harbour.

These are getting to be real joke.

Only preference was 1st & 2nd choice for floor:
1. ground
2. floors 1-2
3. floors 3-4

Of course, we could also order tidy service ($$).

I'll wait til I get my acknowledgement directly from the property and then reply back to that person with my real preferences.

I have to call because for some reason I don't consistently get pre-arrival emails. I got one for an II exchange stay at Grande Vista that we gave away, but I didn't get one for an upcoming stay at Ocean Pointe we booked using DC points for friends. I called Ocean Pointe and gave them the preferences.

The email forms are now very restrictive. Sometimes they have a place to provide additional reservation numbers where you can squeeze in some additional information, but calling is probably the best option now.

I ended up calling and speaking to the rooms control person - had a very pleasant conversation so we'll see what we end up with. Checking in on Saturday the 10th.
