I currently own 4 timeshare contracts, 2 with Wyndham and 2 with the Villa Group. I took my family to Villa La Valencia over spring break and was absolutley appalled at the tactics they used to try to get me to attend their sales presentation. I have see some dirty stuff from Wyndham in the past but these people win the award for sleeziest in the business.
I told the salesman at least 5 times I was not attending the presentation and finally left to take my family to lunch, which I had purchased as a part of the all inclusive plan. We ate lunch and were charged $371 US DOLLARS, which at the time we did not realize. We went back upstairs to get our bags and I was immediately confronted by a woman as to why I was not going to attend the presentation. Once I got rid of her, ANOTHER LADY approaches me. An American lady from Iowa. Within 2 hours of being on this property is was slammed by 3 people to attend their sales pitch.
Later that day we were having drinks by the pool and the waiter wanted to be paid. We tried to explain to him that it was already paid for through the all inclusive. At this point my blood was boiling. I’m here with my family and the management of this place is clearly playing a game now.
The next morning after we ate breakfast I attempted to make a reservation at a restaurant for dinner that night and was told I could not, that I had to do this upstairs. I knew right then and there what was happening. I went upstairs and talked to a gentleman and almost on que, here comes the “shift manager” and he needs to talk to me, about???? ATTENDING HIS SALES PITCH…. I WAS LIVID….. I told him I was not attending anything as I had been there less than 24 hours and they were playing a complete and total game with me. My all inclusive some how does not mysteriously work and I can’t make dinner reservation without having to come back to the place where him and the rest of the vultures were waiting to feast. I asked him about my $371 lunch charge and he told me he was going to fix it ASAP. Long story short, they did not fix the charge until Friday, the day before I left. My wife also went to the main lobby 2 different times to dispute the charge. I refused to up there after my first 2 experiences, knowing that they would hop all over me about going to their sales pitch. My entire trip I was basically banished from the main hotel bar for not wanting to be harassed by these people.
