Villa Del Palmer Cancun - Any recent stays? Thoughts?

Looking for other non-AI options in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area as Vidanta has significantly raised their resort fees. I have Westin Lagunamar on request. Was looking at other possible options and came across Villa Del Palmer. Anyone stay there within the past 12 months? or longer?

It's been longer. The VDP Cancun isn't in Cancun. It's in Punta Sam next to the vehicle ferry to Isla Murjures. It is a really nice resort. The VDP Cancun and Garza Blanca Cancun are next door to each other. There is a newer Marina with a bunch of new restaurants and resorts near by. Isla Mujures is a ferry ride or water taxi ride. It's a growing area.

I stayed at Garza Blanca in January, but went next door to Villa Del Palmar to have meals. Very nice resort. We ran into people who were making meals on site. The VDP people were invited to events at Garza (a magic show, music event). I wouldn’t hesitate to book there.

In the II Resort Directory, the Villa del Palmar has two reservation codes: VGR and VG3. What is the difference between the two?

I don't know but when I use WM to check availability on exchange of getaway the VDP Cancun shows up as VGR.
