Has anyone heard of a Vida Dollars card that’s offers 2 for 1 meals? If so, where did you get it.

Thanks.

The hostess / wrist band-room key person that was trying to book us for a presentation last month MAY have mentioned something about this; - IF WE AGREED TO GO.

We already had the 45th Anniversary / $ 450 promo towards restaurants etc.- so I was only half listening to that part of her information .

I didn’t know there was any way to spend the worthless Vida dollars at a resort. We let all of our thousands of dollars expire, and didn’t renew with them (give them $300) for more opportunities to not spend the Vida dollars. If there was some way to use them at the resort, they’d have some value. Hope this is good info.

Hi MoPops ,
I am not sure ,BUT this may be a different version of "Vida dollars "

The "worthless ones" you are referring to are the ones that are run by ICE / International Cruise & Excursions for Vidanta.
Some have said they were able to use them to some extent / many let them expire as you did .. Vida Sales does certainly oversell their benefits.

I think that these "Other Vida Dollars" are a card that gives you 2 for 1 type of deals during your stay . I think the way you get the card is by going to a presentation with Vida Sales .

IMO- the "hotel side of Vidanta " and the Vida sales side both "participate" in the promo's that are offered for presentation attendance .
2) The hotel side gives the 10% off food etc.
2 ) Vida Sales gives cab rides back to the airport / discount massages etc from their "marketing budget "
I believe this " Other Vida Dollars" card comes from the Vida Sales marketing budget .

Years ago they used to give cash pesos . ( + the 10% and cab fare to the PV airport on check out & also back to MP- PV - Marina- where we were staying)
We once received 2000 pesos *( about $150 usd -at the time/ 2011 ? ) and took the cab to Bucerias afterwards and spent it on lunch and
silver jewelry from one of the beach vendors . We had a great afternoon and the pesos stayed in the local economy .

I suppose a promo card for resort meals is easier to administer and keeps the "cash" within the resort .

*(we only negotiated 2000 pesos /I am sure some did better)

Thanks T Dot. I can’t remember how many thousands of Vida dollars I had at one time. I was thinking “this is too good to be true!” I was right!
We are going to NV for 2 weeks in Jan. Traded from GL to GB to get an extra BR, as daughter, her husband and 3 grandkids are coming down for a week. We wanted to be closer to the water stuff (slides, lazy river, wave pool etc).
I was thinking of gutting it out and attending an update to get the 10% off. If this 2:1 card is also available, it could save us some $$.
However my lovely wife is pushing back hard on wasting a day.
Thanks

No doubt your lovely wife is right; mine has gotten fairly annoyed with those folks. She takes it a bit personally and seems on board with bargaining for the best benefits we can get and setting an alarm at the time they have listed on the confirmation sheet for the update as an indication that we're done. They do ask that you not make later appointments for that day, but they will need to cough up a lot more to keep us there beyond the agreed upon times.

I think I am correct on the promo card - but I was also somewhat sleep deprived since we were at the airport at 4:45 am .

They are now offering 3 presentation versions in Nuevo
1) standard :Breakfast or early lunch
2 )shorter : no meal
3) tour of the construction version.

Also - as an owner - you miss all the exit package hand offs .

Current Vida Sales talking points -from TUG posts this month :

1) "new reservation rules"- (ie) no change in reality - but sales tells you that after 10 years when your registered weeks expire -
your 99 year residence weeks aren't "guaranteed " to get you a reservation <P.S - they never were> - BUT unless Vidanta stops all new construction (LOL) it won't likely
be a real world problem in our lifetimes. ( the whole concept is to get you to upgrade back into registered weeks . This is IMO - a new spin on the "upgrade into a "MF on use only" contract and avoid the every 5 year reno fees - that worked so well for many years for Vida Sales . Basically it is the old - charge you more to solve a problem that they warn you about.

2) The Estates - next level up from Grand Luxxe .

3) the Park - will be opening in 14 months ( stage one water park ) (don't mention grand kids - unless you want the whole spiel)

4) the gondola to take you to the Park

5 ) the cruise ship - for owner use only *

If you decide to go - find out** what "great new " contract upgrade they are selling to folks who really enjoy cruises .There have also been no dollar cost listing for 3 day cruises in any information to date .

** - or maybe don't ask - the more you talk the longer your presentation / and I don't want your wife mad at me for wasting a half day of her vacation .

PS - make sure grand kids get to see the turtle egg sanctuary
and evening release of baby turtles .

It is located on the beach , just to the right of Ola Mulata and near the kid splash pool that is in front of the Grand Mayans.

At Vidanta Riveria Maya Grand Luxxe now. If you attend the sales presentation they give you a black card that gives you 2 for 1 buffet breakfast after 11am and 10% off other charges. They gave us 1/2 off the resort fee also. It is not worth it. It is not worth it. The sales team lie about everything. Don't believe a word they say

They do lie about almost everything. I don’t think my lovely wife will budge on not going to update. Now I see the 1/2 off on the breakfast card is basically lunch, that seals the deal. No update for me. We almost always eat lunch by the pool.
Thx

We asked to trade sale presentation for a room with better view and the manager smile, she only offered some food discount without worth, so we decline the invitation at GMNV

Hi Simon63 ,
I see you list Monterrey Mexico as home .
Was this to go to the Mexican National / spanish presentation that is based on the ground floor of the Grand Mayan NV or to the sales office base in the Grand Bliss ?

If Grand Mayan - tell them you hear Gringos get a better deal for going / and that "they" always give "them" a better view .

It can't hurt.
