VIDANTA - SFX exchange resort fees

Maybe I missed it. I went to make an exchange with SFX and the quoted resort fees for a 2BR at Riviera Maya Grand Mayan were $250/unit per NIGHT.

That's a bargain - $1750 for a GL 2-bedroom!!! That is just barely over the usage fee in 2014.

As a GL "owner", if I want to reserve a GL 2-bedroom, I have to pay $2800 for the usage fee for 1 week - $400 per day. (That does not include what we paid upfront for the privilege of "ownership". (That really just gives me a special color bracelet.)

We used to use our PBEB week to deposit with SFX to go to Grand Mayan or Grand Bliss because it was less than we had to pay as an owner. Now nearly every "owner" has the no pay unless you go option and so, they need to get $$$ to operate. I paid $1440 for a 1-bedroom GM in PP to take my D-I-L there in May because I had already made reservations for my 2 weeks this year.

You have to pay for luxury. :)

$1750 + SFX exchange fee + MF of deposited week + Sunk cost of purchase = $1750 more than a year ago.

yes. I thought that seemed obvious from your initial post. I was thinking of trying a Vidanta week somewhere. We'll wait to see how long this upcharge lasts.

It wasn't $0 last year was it for SFX, was it? I think it was around $300-400 last year for RCI and II and if you hadn't stayed in Vadanta for more than 3 years they were waving the fee at some of the lower levels.

On the other hand, it looks like Vidanata isn't back on II yet.

You did miss it. Here's the thread (it's not just SFX. It's Vidanta-imposed on all exchange companies so far).

I know where you are coming from. We used to use our PBEB week that was about $500 + the $150 + SFX $99 annual fee to go to GM for $750 instead of paying a usage fee. We also did II Getaways for about $199-$250 for a 2-bedroom GM. I only have SFX now and use it to go some where other that PBEB. (We bought that one cheap on ebay to use just for exchanges.)

But, Vidanta does count on a percentage of people who exchange in to actually sign up for $$$$$$ for the privilege of coming back every year paying more. That is why they implement the once every 3 or 4 years requirement.
