I have two weeks booked in puerto Vallarta for June but cannot book flights as when the cartel head murder retribution went down all the cancellations were given 90 days to rebook so most flipped into June. I can fly there but can’t get back to Florida without an airport overnight which I can’t do with an 86 year old husband.

Soooo was looking to see about getting rci into rebooking me into Cancun and one of the Vidanta Grand Mayan properties makes no mention of the $2000 fee they’ve been charging. Just the $275 RCI exchange fee plus some small fees of a few pesos a night. I’d grab two 2 bedrooms in a minute if I disnt think it was a mistake where I’d be held for ransom for thousands of dollars at TJ front desk.

Has there been any specia announced waiving the fees that I’ve missed??? Have any of you gone to a Vidanta riviera maya recently and not paid the exorbitant fee? I can call RCI but I don’t trust the phone rep to know for certain.

Haven't heard anything about Vidanta not charging the fee using RCI. Would be nice, though it's probably still in effect. I'm going next week through DEX and they still have the $150 now $300 fee per week.

The Bliss RM still has a high fee but the Grand Mayan RM doesn't is what I see.

Hi All Readers,
Including @SML123 ,@rpennisi ,@easyrider

Here is what I can see & discern using my RCI weeks account.
Vidanta has 2 resort codes for some of their resort brands. [Grand Mayan-Mayan Palace-Sea Garden]
It was once speculated that one was for owner deposits and one for developer deposits.

Right now both of the Grand Mayan @ Vidanta Riviera Maya codes show 2026 availability
RCI 6973 has no resort fee. It does list 1 in 4 rule and no guest certificates allowed
[ 427 units are listed May 22 - Dec 31- not all dates have listings]
RCI 6974 has a resort fee

Note : This duel resort code listing occurred last fall for the Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta Marina location.
The non resort fee listing disappeared after about 4 weeks.

Also - the resort fee is now lower at GM RM than at GM NV
GM RM resort fee -$ 525-665-980
GM NV resort fee - $ 980-1190-1750

If I were to book either - I would be sure to print a full copy of all the fees and urgent information ; and bring it with me on vacation

Also - with the new RCI reservation page - to see the Grand Mayan for exchange - it is necessary to go
to the top of the "dashboard" and click on "BOOK" and then click on "exchange vacations" [This is in the row : Book -Dream-Trips-Offers-Deposits]
Extra Vacations & Last Calls can also be searched separately if you enter from the BOOK access.

Thank you for taking the time to give your opinion on the present absence of the Vidanta fee. We have traded to Vidanta over the years in all locations at least 20 times and when we retired I intended to buy at Vidanta NV but when I learns how they absolutely kill resale, I instead bought Tafer resale and we use their lovely resorts twice a year. However for this June trip I bagged Tafer PV weeks through RCI and was happy until the sh@t went down in PV last month and here we are.

I’d love to take my family to Vidanta so I could play golf and enjoy a property we have loved for years but not for $1500 plus per condo
For two condos.

I’m not sure if I trust them even if I have all my printed backup that there was NOT a fee disclosed in RCI for our exchange. They have been ruthless over the years. I can see it going either way at check in. I’d feel more comfortable if they had a reduced fee that at least acknowledged the fee exists.

I wonder if anyone took advantage of the no resort fee last fall. If you did and have taken the trip, let us know.

The resort code without the resort fee requires more points/TPUs.
My experience with Vidanta is they stick to the disclosures in RCI when the reservation was made. There are those who took advantage of a waived resort fee for GL units about two years ago and there were no issues even when the fees were subsequently raised by the time of the dates of their reservation.
If the dates worked for me, I will reserve, wait for 1 week for the resort to receive the confirmation. Be sure to print out that resort fee details that is in RCI. Then I will call both RCI and the resort to confirm. If anyone says something different, then you can ask for a cancellation. RCI will cancel it without a problem if the resort says they can't honor it.

It's all of the Mexican resorts, imo. It's not like there is much anyone can do when they overbook, imo.

I've had 100% success with them charging me the lower fee I booked at when they subsequently raised fees (and that's over like 4 or 5 stays where that happened). I never had to dispute it or use my printouts, it was always correct. YMMV but I think they're pretty good about charging the promised fee correctly.

I agree with you and would not trust them charging what is being shown in RCI. A few years ago, this happened to me at Grand Bliss NV. RCI stated a lower price and Vidanta refused to go along with it, even though I had it in writing. I had to pay the extra and then inform RCI and RCI gave me the difference by lowering an upcoming fee.
