I traded a Hawaii studio during an interval Special for free upgrade for an exchange and got a 2 BR at Vidanta Rivera Maya. My all in cost was around $1500 (1300MF +229 Exchange fee) My husband and I went with some friends and we charged them half for the other room. They put is in Grand Mayan bldg 10, and the 2 BR had a full kitchen and a King bed in each room. The only complaint about the room is the beds were VERY FIRM. Didn't bother me too much, but the other half slept on the couch. Ill say the resort responded pretty fast about putting a pillow topper on the bed, but it didn't move the needle on the on the Firmness. This is not an all inclusive resort but I found the food to be priced at "resort" level, and it was actually pretty good stuff too. Seasoned and presented well. We Went to Le Petit Chef while we were there for less than half the price as the experience in Nashville would be. We did the sales meeting. Offered $100K buy in, then $54K, then $19k. We just did it for the free breakfast which was worth $120 for the 4 of us and 10% off the bill which worked out to another $150 or so. Nice grounds, resort was slow the week we went. We of course didn't buy. Id say it was a great trade. BTW, on the booking screen II said we would pay a $450 resort fee, but we actually weren't charged it.

Strange they didn't collect the resort fee. When did you submit the exchange?

June 3 and I thought so too, but have read review from others on a facebook II group that they weren't charged either.

It looks like you may have traded in before the new resort fee structure started.
You may have also picked up a waived resort fee special that was running at the beginning of the year. I got one in March through RCI. Resort fee was waived.

The first time we went to Vidanta we stayed at the Mayan Palace. The bed was like a board. I guess you have to stay at the Grand Luxxe to get a decent mattress. They've always been just right.

Years ago, before we started doing carry-on only, we took an air mattress and pump in an extra suitcase! (This was for any Mexico resort!) I thought the GM mattresses were somewhat better than the MP ones, but the GL ones are really comfy!

If you look in your II account via the website under Deals and then Resort offers, you'll see that Vidanta have had this offer going for this year, among others. If your reservation was within the window and its your first stay, that's why you didn't pay the resort fee.
As with so much in the II confirmations, its just standard wording about the resort fee, they don't tailor it for your first stay.

Gotcha, well it was my first Vidanta stay, so that explains it! Thanks!

I recently exchanged Los Cabos Golf Resort via INTERVAL for a Marriott Resort in Orlando. If I had used the INTERVAL “free” certificate for the exchange the cost would have been 50% more. I will lose the certificate this month since no suitable exchange was available. INTERVAL tries to get one to deposit their with an incentive of getting a free week. Invariably those certificates cost 50% more to exchange than exchanging with the home resort.

I was with Interval for a dozen years, did 14 deposits and 14 trades. I never used their free week certificates for making deposits. They never seemed or were useful to us.

Cost may be about $350 to use the "free week ' certificate, but you would also still have your deposited week to use another time

But the certificate in my experience is limited considering the price you have to pay.

Grand Luxxe Jungle Riviera Maya has 2025 Chrismas week on Platinum Escapes for $2450. Is it worth it?

Depends on if you have pay an extra resort fee on top of that. My understanding is that you do have to pay the resort fee after you purchase the getaway.

Only if the owner is not checking in. Think it’s the total cost.

Interesting. I think you are right. I might have to see what the offer is next winter. I love the Grand Luxxe @ RM.
