1) What are the current (2016) maintenance fees for:

Studio - Sea Garden
1 Bedroom - Sea Garden
2 Bedroom - Sea Garden

Studio - Mayan Palace
1 Bedroom - Mayan Palace
2 Bedroom - Mayan Palace

Studio - Grand Mayan
1 Bedroom - Grand Mayan
2 Bedroom - Grand Mayan

2) I met a woman in the pool that said she uses her "SeaPack benefit" by paying a 2 bedroom MF for 1 week of Sea Garden then reserving one week studio Sea Garden, one week one bedroom Sea Garden, one week studio at Grand Mayan, one week one bedroom at Grand Mayan (which requires one MF x 2 bedroom Grand Mayan).

She mentioned that the studios at Sea Garden NV do not have an adjoining door to the one bedroom units the way that a Mayan Palace two bedroom can be locked off in between. I have no idea Sea Pack for Sea Garden has a MF is less than the MF for SG studio + SG one bedroom. And she might be incorrect because her husband might have made the reservations and payments and all she knows is she owns one week per year but gets four weeks of usage.

3) Another woman said she owns one week per year of a Mayan Palace studio. She upgrades the studio to one bedroom every time she makes a reservation.

Since we have Senior Certificates for all of the Vidanta/Mayan weeks we use so only pay "refurbishment fees = 1 x MF every 5 years) and too many other timeshare contracts not to mention deposits in every timeshare company, we don't see a reason to upgrade our Vidanta contract anytime soon. Since we have used all of the 6 (2+4) one bedroom allotment for 2016 by 2/13/2016, we reserved a studio in the Marina before we move to Velas Vallarta. I am trying to figure out what the cost to upgrade from studio to one bedroom is.

Now I realize I should have reserved Velas Vallarta 12 months in advance for US Presidents/Canadian holiday week February 13-20. I generally remember MLK holiday the 3rd week of January and always reserve it 12 months in advance.

Mayan Reservations says it is $350 ($50 per day upgrade fee). I've heard people refer to it as "a couple of hundred dollars" and I've seen it quoted as $180 at the check in desk. Perhaps the rate changes with the weather?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Flex

Hello

Just trying to figure out your dilemma. If you have more weeks than you can use and you do not have to pay MF because of the senior certificate......then why don't you just reserve another week at the marina before you head on over to Velas?

From my experience everyone seems to have a different MF in accordance with their individual contract so it may be difficult to get an answer from folks here on what they pay. Also, I thought the Sea Garden only has studios and one bedrooms. Did this lady pay for 2 one bedroom MF at the Se Garden? Please explain again exactly what this lady in the pool did to get her weeks in Nuevo.

Met you last year in Nuevo over at the Grand Bliss. Hope you are having an enjoyable vacation.

Hi Travs,

We own:
Contract #1: purchased 1993, upgraded 12/13/2006:
Two Register weeks with SC1 (SENIOR CERTIFICATE version number 1) (no MF even when we use the weeks every year)
and Two Vacation Fair weeks (never used because it would require maintenance fee)
Unit size: Two bedroom in Mayan Palace ever year
Refurbishment fees due every FIVE years.

Contract #2: purchased 1/7/2007
Four Register weeks with SC1 (SENIOR CERTIFICATE version number 1 no MF even when we use the weeks every year)
and Four Vacation Fair weeks (never used because it would require maintenance fee)
Unit size: Two bedroom in Mayan Palace ever year
Refurbishment fees due every FIVE years.

We used our 2015 allotment:
studios x 6 weeks in January->February 2015
one bedroom x 6 weeks from November 7->December 19, 2015

Our 2016 allotment:
six weeks x 1 bedroom from 2 Jan->13 Feb in NV
two weeks studio at Mayan Palace Marina for February 13-27
four weeks studio can be reserved for use prior to 12/31/2016 (We can reserve 12 months in advance)

In the past 10 years I can count on my fingers how many times we have used the Mayan Palace "Studio" units since they don't even have coffee makers. Since the Marina has so many restaurants next door we are hoping we can manage. And of course we can order room service.

Last year another resort we own at lent us a coffee maker.
We've made arrangements to purchase a microwave this year for two weeks use then figure we will give it away as a "propana" tip to a bellboy or someone who wants it.

Hope this makes sense.

Mayan Palace Marina - Feb 13 -20 week

You may end up in the studio for Feb 13 - 20
the MP- Marina was full for that week 6 months ago - and I booked a different week. The Monday is Presidents week and is also a holiday in most Canadian provinces so demand is higher because you use one less vacation day from work.
You can probably get "bumped up " from the studio for some of your other weeks at the Marina MP

I like the idea of buying the microwave to use and then give away as a propiina .

We always ask the " maid / week long " if she would like everything that is left in the fridge - and they always say yes . I have even started bringing those fold flat disposable coolers to make it easier . This is in addition to a cash tip of about $5per day

Will PM you later

Hi again

Our Senior Certificate states that we can only use it every other year. Is that the same for you Flexible? We will start to use this perk in 3 years. Can't wait. My sister tried to use her certificate and they gave her a really rough time. She turned 75 in June... Tried to book her weeks before she turned 75 BUT for weeks to be used way after her 75 th birthday. They would not let her book because at the time of the booking she was still only 74. BUT...she was booking a time for the next yr when she would be 75. They would not let her do it. It is all a game of chance I guess!
Enjoy your time in PV. We will not be there this year.

1) Look at the PDF for your contract or obtain one if you don not have it. Or your paper copy

2) Look for a NUMBER on the Addendum next to SC. Is it SC1, SC2.....SC whatever number?
We have SC1 aka "Senior Certificate 1" because the contracts were in 2006 and we have not upgraded which could result in a loss of benefits.

Anything purchased or upgraded after January 2007 does not have our same benefits. SC1 pay 1 x MF every five years for refurbishment.

SC with numbers 2 or more have a greater multiplier.
