We had planned a month long golfing trip to Vegas starting March 20 and our plans included a month stay at Grandview Las Vegas. We kept waiting to see how this pandemic would play out. Finally on Friday March 13 ( how about that for a Friday the 13 th) it became clear that we couldn’t go. For one thing Nevada closed all the casinos plus restaurants etc then we heard there was a 3.5 hour wait at the border, well that did it right there, then Canada began talking with the USA to close the border altogether. So we went to the RCI website to cancel the reservations at Grandview. Of course cancelling at the last minute you don’t get any refunds. Luckily we had paid the $90 to insure 85000 points that were involved. Which was a big deal for us as we never buy insurance but then we rarely use many points for a resort. It was very early in February when we were booking and the virus had just barely started but something twigged and we said maybe we should buy it. Ok. So a few days ago I decided to call RCI to ask for an official receipt for our costs at Grandview so I could send it in to our travel insurance. Just on the off chance I asked about a refund. I was put on hold for over 6 minutes while the agent talked to a supervisor. Surprisingly RCI refunded all our costs by putting the money into our RCI account which is just fine with us as we will certainly be continuing to travel later and is very decent of RCI.
