I am hoping folks can help me understand more about how Hawaii is handling the
lack of a timestamp on Vault Health testing results.
Here is our scenario: My family is planning to go to Maui from Denver on Monday, 2/1. Our flight departs at 11:45 am MST, and it is a direct flight. To fall within the 72 hour window, we would need to have our appointment with Vault for supervised testing no sooner than 11:45 am MST on Friday, January 29.
However, vault recommends doing the test as early as possible in the day in order to get the test kits into the distribution system early. We tend to be early birds, so we are in favor of that idea. However, this would put us outside of the 72 hour window by a few hours. But, if Vault is really not including a timestamp, does it matter?
Alternately, let’s say we closely follow the guidelines, and do our supervised testing at 12 noon on 1/29, falling within the 72 hour window. Is it possible that Hawaii would not accept our results? In this scenario, I am concerned that with only a date and no timestamp, we would not be able to prove that our test actually did fall within the 72 hour window.
Finally, does anyone know how the state is handling flight delays? For example, if we take our test at noon on Friday, but our flight is delayed for an hour, is the state treating that as outside of the 72 hour window?
I would very much appreciate hearing about the experiences of others using Vault Health testing in these first two scenarios, and understanding your experiences in general with the third “delayed flight” scenario.
Mahalo in advance!
