When I saw your post I was excited for a new sight to do a comparison on my minivan resv that I have for a mid Oct 2012 week. When I checked the rates I found the resveration that I currently have to be approx. $225 cheaper for the 8 day period that we will be in Oahu. You might want to look into this link. I've been using them for the past 3 years.
Good luck.

I never used this website but I tried it for out trip in 2 weeks 2-14-12 to
2-29-12. I think it shows why I never saw a price decrease since we booked in
November. It shows every type of car as sold out. I booked through
dicounthawaiirentalcar for $512 all in, for 16 days, for an intermediate. Ever since
the the price has been $1,300 to $1,400.

I always make it a point to secure a vehicle as soon as I know I am going on a trip then check further for price savings. I usually do not find anything cheaper as time goes on. Someone once told me that rental fleets are about like airline seats---as fewer and fewer remain unsold the price goes up and up!
