Our Streamside Birch 1BR fixed Week 15 was our first TS and was purchased from Marriott as a resale in 2001. Units were refurbished last year.

Historically we used it to trade to Hawaii every two years, for two weeks. While we have used it to get early Oct Boston and summers at Vail or Breckinridge, we haven't tried for much else.

Does anyone else use Streamside as a trader? Thoughts on value as a regular trader? The low MF of around $700 and its being enrolled is why we've kept it.

Backstory...

We've since acquired Maui weeks, so we no longer use it for Hawaii...plus it got really hard to match. We do get 110K MR points every two years and I optioned that for 2019 just to simplify my life. The MFs are low, about $700, so the MR value wasn't too bad.

I've thought about selling, but it is enrolled so that gives me the option to rent points vs having a points owner reserve for me. That said, it's mostly an option as we haven't had the need for points usage.

Selling would save us around $1000/yr, but when a match does occur, it's usually been for good value. Lastly, living in San Antonio means significant airfare whenever we use it, i.e., no easy drives to off-season Hilton Head or out west. ;-)

Thoughts?

That’s not a ski week right? Is it hard to get a ski week?

I used to own a couple of weeks there (in the Douglas building) but sold them in 2005 when there were rumors that Marriott was going to drop the Streamside Resort. And if I recall correctly, only one of the Buildings actually had an elevator in it.

As it turned out Marriott actually did drop two or three of the buildings a few years later and the values tanked for those Buildings that didn't remain under Marriott Management.

Week 15 shows up in April and is really a "mud" week. Not much use there at that time of year.

With that said, you won't get rich selling it, so I would keep it and just continue using it to utilize trading opportunities via Marriott Destination Club Points or use the week for a week in Interval International.

If you decide to keep it you could consider electing DC points and then rent them out if you don’t have a use for them. I believe the site that Tuggers have set up is www.vacationpointexchange.com. The rate may be about $0.60 per point depending on demand.

Best regards.

If you only get 550 points then you definitely want to use Interval International and trade the week for another week. It's your best bet to stretch out the value of it and make the most of it.

Thanks for sharing that. I did wonder about the point value since someone mentioned it is a mud week.

I'm going to try and rent it for 2020, at least for now. It pulls Easter on a number of years and with the weather changes we're seeing it may benefit from late season skiing, but definitely don't have high expectations.

I may try for Boston in September or something out west just to see what it will pull.

Thanks for all the feedback.

You're best value will be to exchange it. I assume your Maui weeks are not enrolled. You could always put in a request for the week(s) you'll be in Maui and then rent out your owned week and use the exchange if you match.
