Vacation Village is Pressing a Week's to points program

I was contacted by the developer of Vacation Village at Weston trying to push for a conversion of our fixed deed to points. We own a Week 34 two bedroom lock out. The agent was trying to tell me that unless I converted to points and paid a $4000 discounted points conversion fee that I wouldn't be guaranteed to use my fixed week in the future unless I made reservations at least one year in advance. I managed to stall this agent for a week so I could check with TUG to see if anyone here has encountered this problem or opportunity? My gut is telling me that this is another sales scam. My understanding was that with a fixed week deed I own that week and if I decide to use it during that time I should be able to use it. Any advice is appreciated.

That's silly. The policy is 60 days. I haven't seen anything in writing from VVR. Until you see it from HQs, don't believe anything different from salesmen.

Don't do it. You can still use your week the same as before. If you want RCI points it would be cheaper to buy a resale VV Grandview, already converted week, on the resale market. 122,000 points for +\- $3K. I doubt you'd get 1/2 the RCI points for your summer week for 25% more $$

Look at my post below. You'd be getting 117,400 pts less than at the Grandview and you'd be paying $800 more for the privilege.

Deeded ownership of a fixed week and unit is never affected in any way by a resort adopting (selling) a new points program.
No owner should believe lying sales people falsely claiming anything different. I'm relatively new to timeshares, but I know that much.

Why can't those sales people just tell the truth every once in a while?

RCIs point chart shows VV Weston. Week 36 will give you 46,000 RCI points @$4000 = ~$.09 per point and I don't know if any other funds are necessary to close this conversion. If you bought a VV Grandview you will get 122,000 RCI points for ~$3200 =~$.03

Not that I'm pushing the Grandview. I'm not. I don't think you really want a points contract anyway, do you? I just wanted you to see the disparity in what they're offering you, compared to what will be the real value of the contract conversion.
