We'll be checking in this weekend and wondered if anyone has stayed here lately. The reviews are dubious...we just want a clean unit with good beds. Any recommendations on if we should request a special building/area? We have a 2 bdrm unit which will be plenty of space for us. Looking forward to some pool time, shopping and dining out. We'll check out the outlet mall and nearby restaurants. Also thinking about an Everglades tour/boat ride. Any suggestions would be welcome. :)

As long as you go with low expectations...I don't think you will be disappointed. We stayed there once and found it to be quite far from most everything.

Stayed there last April, 2011. Found the units/grounds/pools to be well-maintained.

- Plenty of parking area (under units, as well outside);
- loads of activities planned weekly
- shuttle available to transport you to all activities throughout the compound
- welcome/orientation gathering (not a pushy activity to get you to purchase, but a well-planned get-to-know-staff/resort, etc)
- several pools available throughout the resort
- grills available
-patio/balcony outside Bonaventure buildings (not screened, as is at a couple bldgs)
- located in an upscale residential area
- we stayed in Egret bldg (Heron bldg, is where lots of activities are centered around its pool).
- Not noisy as was reported in a review. (at least not in April, last year)
- did not rent a car, and had no trouble getting around town via resort-provided shuttle.
- lots of tours available for minimum cost
- restaurant on site is decent w/decent prices
- lots of restaurants will deliver to resort
- personally, I was not too impressed with the mall --others on trip spent lots
- Local grocery store prices are comparable to what I pay here in VA. (resort shuttle will deliver/pickup you)

I stayed there once a couple of years ago and tend to agree. Units were great but IMO Resort was in the middle of nowhere!

Thanks for the info

We knew this one was off the beaten path but worried mostly about the negative remarks on quality of bedding, sheets with holes, bugs, etc. that we saw in some reviews. We did stay here once many years ago for just one night and found it very tolerable. The reviews had tales of extremely lengthy check-ins but you can get that just about anywhere. I'll post a review when we return. Thanks to all for the info.

We have stayed at both Bonaventure and Weston many times, and each visit was very enjoyable.

Loved this location

We just finished our week at Bonaventure and really liked it a lot. The unit was clean and furnished nicely. We were in Sandpiper I in 603a & b. Though reviews weren't good here, we found the resort to be well run and had a great time. The pool area was spotless and not crowded. I'll put a full review in when I have more time. :)

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to your review.

The resort is on Facebook, and they post photos showing lots of activities. Who knows -- you might see yourself. ;o)

The A unit is fine but the B side has no balcony so it is not as nice.
