I have been contacted by a Legal Firm that is willing to help me get out of my timeshare contract. No fees have been mentioned as of yet. The company is Vacation Ownership Group located in California. Does anyone have any information about this company?

Please understand NO lawyer or legal group can PROMISE any outcome - they will bill you by claiming it is a retainer. And the contracts you signed or the resort you own at, employs many more lawyers than some storefront with a credit card machine in California (and most likely not a lawyer in the place).

If it is paid off (no loan), you can try giving if away. You might sweeten the deal by paying closing costs and 2012 MFs .... that will still be much cheaper and very much higher likey-hood that you won't own the timeshare in 6 months.

There is no magical sales agent, lawyer, realtor, advertising firm, secret convention renting travel agent or Nigerian doctor who is going to PAY you thousands of dollars for your timeshare. These are blood sucking scammers - worst than the original timeshare sales people. Stop talking to them.

PS If you fall for this crap, in 3 months a new batch will be calling you to RECOVER your money from this crop of con artists. And it will be the SAME people who conned you month earlier. HOW DO YOU THINK THEY GOT YOUR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER?

There is a simple rule of thumb with timeshare business offers:

NEVER pay an upfront fee to sell, rent, or get rid of your timeshare.

REPUTABLE businesses charge a fee AFTER the service has been performed.

Most of these "recovery" firms don't even have an attorney on staff.
