Has anyone tried converting Club points to Reward points and then using Reward points on Vacasa? We’ve done that twice and want to compare notes.

Doing this is still on our to-do list so to speak. Would love for you to post here on TUG about your experiences doing this so that others can learn from your direct experience using Vacasa with WR points (myself included). If you could post in terms of pros and cons that might help others to go into this process with eyes wide open.

My experience—two vacations so far. The pros: huge number and variety of locations, the use of a private home (like an AirBNB), another option for using Club points and Reward points. The cons: minimal onsite services, little uniformity of furnishings, layout, parking, etc. I’m happy to answer questions.

In my experience, their inventory available will be limited by a cost factor. Example: we had been hoping for a few days in a 1BR unit in Vail (Lions Head) during ski season. While there were many options available (20+) using the search engine, when trying to book, the VC didn't show availability. Upon further discussion, it was mentioned that there was a rough limit of about $3500/week on what would be acceptable for trade this way. These units were going for upwards of $10k/week.

Excuse my ignorance, but I don’t understand. Cost factor? Our Vacasa vacations are strictly with Wyndham Reward points. 13K per bedroom per night. Our main problem is that many if not most units are 3 bedrooms and above.

I think what @pagosajim means is that the property owner/manager for the Vacasa unit is paid in real $$$ by Wyndham Rewards for these points conversions. Though you may be using WR points - the Vacasa unit owner/manager is getting paid in real money. There's evidently a ceiling for how much WR is willing to pay to the property owner/manager for these types of points conversions - and that amount appears to be around $3500/week.

@HitchHiker71 has it correct. If you browse the inventory available through Vacasa, you'll see a value for each property representing an average $/night cost. If this exceeds something like $400/night, you likely won't be able to book it.

Maybe we are talking about two different things, but I looked into using WR points to book timeshares, i'm not sure if it was on vacasa or some other WR portal. The interface was VERY basic and you could not actually book online, you had to call. But i remember seeing 2BR units costing more than 30k WR points per night, which seemed poor.

Also there is the inherent "bad conversion rate" from Club Wyndham points to WR points, I just don't feel like this was a good use of points.

What websites are you looking at these?

That's the site you use to book Vacasa using WR points. You can search online - but you have to call to actually book - online Vacasa reservations using WR points is not yet supported.
