Well written article and much deserved praise for this first-of-class carrier. Her namesake, Fleet Adm Chester Nimitz, is certainly a giant among leaders -- quite a distinction for a man who was court-martialed in his early career for running a ship aground. Hats off to the USS Nimitz -- may her sunset days be smooth sailing and ahead flank liberties at each port of call!

Great article . The first in her class-of-nuclear aircraft carrier. The Enterprise was the first nuclear aircraft carrier built at the Newport News a Shipyard.. The Nimitz aircraft carrier was also built at the Newport News Shipyard , Newport News, Va.
