using "leftover" points for a resort credit

Had 12,000 points expiring this year and got an email saying we could convert points to a resort credit.
I called and found out that it is only available if you bought from the resort... resales can't use their points in this way. I guess we are viewed as 2nd class citizen

Yes perhaps, but you probably saved $20,000+ buying resale so you are still ahead vs the $150 or so resort credit they might have given you.
