My friend has offered to buy a FF ticket for me using FF miles that she can't use. If she goes on line and gets the ticket for me will the airlines have a problem with it? Any other problems doing this?

you shouldn't have problem. I have done it before going internationally and domestic flights and they all work.

I haven't done this for a few years. But when I did (UA, IIRC), I was required to go to the nearest airport and sign for the fact that, yes, I knew I was buying a ticket for someone else. It was a PITA, since my nearest airport is ~40 minutes away.

Perhaps times have changed? Or maybe different airlines have different policies. Doesn't hurt to call the airline and ask.

I believe you can put the ticket in anyone's name; however, the name on the buyer's credit card must be the same as on the FF account for obvious reasons.

I do this once or twice a year, mostly in UA. UA used to require the person booking to show the credit card used for fees/taxes in person, but even that requirement is gone.

Book tickets for my wife all the time using my miles. They don't care who it is as long as somebody pays the fees.

Cheers
