Using bHC points from different properties

There have been several discussions about different "buckets" of bHC points and the ability to use points from one bHC property at a different bHC property even though it is not allowed by Club Rules. It was hypothesized that HGVC didn't have the technology to be able to differentiate between these different "buckets" of bHC points.

I was recently adjusting my 2024/2025 point usage for an upcoming reservation. I have only had success doing this by canceling and immediately rebooking the same reservation (adding and then removing days hasn't worked for me). Rather than cancelling it online and waiting the 15 minutes for the availability to show up again I call Club Support since availability shows up immediately for them. I would rather not keep refreshing my browser incessantly and worry about losing my reservation, less stressful to do it on the phone.

I had an reservation at W57 using both 2024 bHC and borrowed 2025 bHC points but had a good amount of 2024 bHC points that had become available (this reservation had been made a few months ago). I asked Club Support to cancel the reservation and rebook it so it would use up all of my available 2024 bHC points and borrow less of my 2025 bHC points. They cancelled the reservation but weren't able to re-book it citing an error message that I didn't have enough points available. The representative called a supervisor to help but they kept getting an error message that there weren't enough points. Finally, they told me that they couldn't book it because my W57 points were already used (I have a fixed week so Home Week reservations are automatically booked years into the future) and my available bHC points were from a different property. They told me that they were not able to book it for me on the phone because of that but that I would be able to book it online. Fortunately the room eventually showed up as available online and I was able to rebook it. Why I was able to book it online but not on the phone is a question that I don't have an answer for.

It appears that HGVC is in fact able to differentiate between different sources of bHC points after all - and have chosen to allow usage of points from different bHC properties. It is possible that in the future HGVC may implement a policy that doesn't allow cross-usage of bHC points (though I think doing so would create a morass of difficulties for both owners and HGVC). Something to keep in the back of our minds as we plan and evaluate ownership portfolios.

Did it pull from the 2024 bHC as you wanted?

Yes, it did.

I don't own bHC points so I don't have any experience but I would think that there was an issue with CS and supervisor's answer then.

HGVC (Including BHC at W57 and The Residences); Marriott Abound Points (Thru Vistana and Marriott); Berkley Vegas (Vacation Village EOY RCI Weeks) and LHC
My bHC points combine and I never had difficulty booking any bHC property that was available.

Not specifically for this particular situation, but in general does a cancelled reservation usually show up 15 minutes later in the system?

And I've had it take as long as 20, but not sure I've seen longer than that.

Cheers.

Once it took over 24 hours. That was Maui. I was in panic mode.
