Can you use a $50 companion ticket AND use frequent flyer mileage for another ticket at the same time?

The $50 companion ticket is for a passenger that accompanies a traveler on a purchased ticket. Thus, a third person in the group could use FF miles, but the primary ticket must be on a paid fare.

I don't think so. Note that the fare paid must be a "published fare". That means a fare that I can get online or simply by calling my travel agent or Alaska Air. That would seem to preclude a situation where I have to have some FF miles as partial payment.

With Alaska Air, when you use miles (15K=$250. discount) plus cash to buy a ticket, you do get mileage for the flight.

Well, I will get mileage so thats ok but I can't use both the $50 seat and the $250 seat for the two of us?

It did seem too good to be true....still....the $50 ticket plus the $130 in taxes is still alot less than what I paid last year.

Don't know if this is pertinent, but you can purchase the cheapest fare possible, use the the companion fare and then use miles for both of you to upgrade to first class.

the Alaska airline site- http://www.alaskaair.com/mileageplan/
explains everything you would ever want to know- it is 10,000 miles per leg of flight- to upgrade to first class- when we travel- we use it for the "longest leg"- and it depends if there are seats available for mileage upgrade- often there are not- so the earliest you can do your reservations the better.

We purchased rt tickets to cancun last week for 1-2007. We were able to use the bargain fair, e-certificate and 10,000 miles from DW account and 30,000 miles from my account to obtain first class tickets rt. Total cost for rt first class was less than bargain fair rt for 2 without the e-certificate.

What e-certificate is being referred to here? Is this an Alaska Airline promotion?

I have a small amount of Alaska Airlines miles left over from a points.com promotion a couple of years ago, but have never done anything with them....
