Used EBay for the first time

I used EBay for the first to buy a TS for my daughter. I was able to buy the first week of Sept in Whistler for $200. It will be our 3rd Whistler week. I knew EBay had some good deals but was shocked to pick this up for so cheap.

Now all I have to worry about is closing. Last time it took 11 months. Hope we can get through it a little faster this time.

Well, we are doing our due dilagence before signing the sales agreement and it turns out that the unit is not a studio but a studio-loft which is considered a 1 bd. We got it from Holiday group and they said they stand behind their sale and sell us the unit. YEA!!

Good for you, sounds like you are familiar with the area and may well use it being 'close' by. I would not buy a week that was not summer or ski season in Whistler.
 
Sometime you should see what kind of a deal Raintree would give you to combine those and convert them to a jeweled Raintree membership. You might be able to save significiantly on annual fees, increase your flexibility in reserving time, and even make a bit of money on the side spliitting usage and renting some of the weeks.

Would you be willing to tell us what resort you bought into? 200.00, well you should feel reeaaalllly good, since I paid 16,000 for my 2 bedroom at Whiski Jack at North Star. Sure wish I had know about resales then.

We bought another RTU week at Mountainside lodge. It good for another 40 years.

The thing we like best is that it trading power is greatly increased by the fact that there are so few II units being traded. Since both WM and Club Intrawest are pushing their members toward trading with RCI.

Yes, summer and winter are the peak time but our family will be using it mostly and we love early Sept in Whistler.
 
I just bought a TS on ebay, and it is my first! How do I do due diligence? I read the paperwork as best I can, but is there a way to check with the TS or verify I wont just be buying a piece of paper? Is that what I can rely on the title insurance for?

Is there a list of due diligence steps here on the TUG site you can refer me to?

and why did it take 11 mos for you previously? that sounds awful!

Yes!

Decide for yourself which of the questions in this Timeshare Purchaser's Checklist are important to you. Some questions should be addressed to the seller, some to the resort.

The checklist is located in the TUG Advice section (link at the top of the page), which contains an amazing amount of useful timeshare info.

As a practical matter, you should generally do most of your due diligence before you make a bid or an offer.

The resort was sold two months after we bought. So for many months no one would say who could sign off on the new deed. Then just a long wait. The good thing is the minute that the resort got the paperwork that we had purchased, they transfered the unit into our names. This allowed us to make reservations and exchanges in a timely manner. So the fact that the paperwork took 11 months wasn't a big deal.
 
Well, we got the deed this week, 45 days after the purchase. So we are thrilled.

Both Holiday group and Shell Vacations (managers of the Mountainside lodge) were very fast and efficient.

Now since it is a fixed week which we already had plans for, I need to deposit it into II. Lucky me, I'm getting an AC for the deposit.
