We are hearing they will be closing the WKORV slide. Can we use the pool facilities down at the Westin hotel?

No - nor can they use the timeshare pools.

This protects timeshare owners. During high season, the hotel pools are a zoo! Before they instituted this rule, the hotel guests came down to the timeshares and overwhelmed the pools there. It's a good rule.

Who told you they were closing the slide? Why?

Makes sense Denise. We were just thinking it would be fun to do with the kids during the slide outage. Is there a pay-to-use option?
...or is it a stay-to-use? :D

It is for hotel guests only. I know they have different towels, and I'm not sure if they have armbands.

They do have wristbands. We have stayed there a few times before staying our week at the TS. They are fairly strict at enforcing it. Especially when using their water slide. They change wristband color everyday.

When we were in Maui in 2013, we walked down the beach and eventually made it to the Westin Resort so we came in off the boardwalk sat down and ordered drinks and food from the poolside restaurant and wandered through the property for a while. We were never questioned and never saw anybody wearing wristbands. Is this something new at the Westin Resort? We are heading back to Maui next month and wanted to stop in again for another look around.

Wrist bands are given out when you pick up your towels, As well, the staff will do checks around the pool for people missing wrist bands asking for their room number and verifying their name against a master list. If you are not a registered guest you will be asked to leave immediately.

If you use the pool or slide at the Westin Hotel, you need to be a Westin Hotel guest. But they will be glad to accept your $$ at the Westin and Sheraton restaurants and bars. Not sure if you can still do it, but you used to be able to charge tabs to your Villas account.
