Hi,
Currently have II gold. I use the heck out of getaways. Is upgrading to II platinum worth it? I am interested in if I would get more availability in resorts. Or is it just an additional discount on getaways?

Mostly the larger discount but a few times a year, Plats get early access to Getaways. If you use Getaways frequently, you should upgrade.

There isn’t more availability other than priority view of limited inventory. However if you are buying a lot of getaways it makes sense just based on the additional discount.

I’m at over 15 weeks for the year. There are several developers in Mexico where I don’t think I can book anymore for the rest of 2024. Are their certain days that a developer like MVW releases them ? I’ve been to several of the legacy welk Hyatts and HRC San Antonio, I’m trying to score a Hyatt one in Florida for an upcoming trip there next year.

For us the biggest benefit to platinum is the 5 free guest certificates. Often times my family arrives before I do…

Hyatt is usually no more than 5 months ahead, after inventory has been through their internal exchange system.
MVC can be from 15-12 months ahead with more added now and then.
Sheraton and Westin not usually more than 12 months ahead, with ongoing additions on and off.

At 15 weeks/yr, you should definitely upgrade for the $25 per Getaway savings. The other nice perk is the Platinum Escapes sales. They occur 2-3 times/year. This sale isn't offered to any other membership tier and it used to be really sweet deals on offseason/surplus inventory. The last few years haven't been as sweet, but I guess I still need to adjust my expectations based on inflation. LOL. Some examples of the latest Escapes: Maine Coast $247, Lake Tahoe $247, Branson $277, Myrtle Beach $279, Palm Springs/Desert $347, & Orlando $422.

Don't upgrade your membership until you're ready to make another purchase or use one of the Platinum benefits. No need to "waste" months. Someone on here usually posts when the Platinum Escapes start and the last one was this month, so it will be a while before they do another one. With as much travel as you do, you should consider joining TUG so you'll have access to the private Forum with Sightings & Requests.

Ohh that's huge I have been anxious about Hyatt inventory that isn't showing up- I figured my units just couldn't see it.

You can do a test for San Antonio TX, you should be able to see Dec and Jan inventory for HYS. The Jan '25 dates aren't in flexchange currently so if you can see them, they you're probably OK. Very occasionally it is more than 5 months, but not more than 6 months ahead.

I also have it in my head, not sure where from, that Hyatt exchanges don't have the usual II 24hr cancellation window @dioxide45 can you advise if this is so, or am I incorrect?

I think I have seen this mentioned before. Perhaps it was @echino who I saw mention it.

No 24h grace period if using Hyatt points to exchange to non-Hyatt resorts in II.
Looking to go the opposite direction - DVC points to Hyatt and Marriott weeks to Hyatt
@Hindsite - spot on I can see the closer dates with both sets so I am assuming they just haven't dropped my dates yet

Shouldn't be an issue, but you may want to confirm that DVC points don't work similar to Hyatt points. Hard to tell until you actually pull of a trade and try to cancel.

Yeah my sons getting married so no chance of cancellation but making no progress with DVC as far how trading rules work…

If you cannot bank it, renting is easier and provides way more value than depositing to II (which gives you two more years to trade). The point chart of DVC in II is poor.

I have zero interest in renting - cash wouldn't be helpful in this situation as I am hoping to secure 2 & 3 bdrs. There are cash options available to book direct from Workd of Hyatt but the dates only show smaller room sizes.

Edited to say - I already have rooms booked through Wyndham just would prefer Hyatt location wise.

You could also do a “request first” instead of “deposit first” with DVC points.

Yeah called over to DVC - and their answers didn't make sense - but I have an email in to confirm. They said to do request first I needed to deposit my Oct points back in August. Lol kinda defeats the whole request first.

I agree that makes no sense. With Worldmark (also a “points” system) you enter your OGS and no credits are deducted until after a match is made. The problem with WM is sometimes this doesn’t happen until months after the exchange, so you have to make sure you keep enough credits available until the debit occurs.
