I am trying to find out how many ff miles are needed to upgrade to 1st class on Delta, American and US Air, specifically to both the Caribbean and Maui. Is there one website where I can find this information or do I need to search on the individual websites of each airline? Thanks.

i search on the individual websites. the reason is sometimes first class needs the same amount of points as coach. i had 5 first class tickets this year using miles.

I don't know of any site that gives that info for a variety of airlines. Just look on the individual sites.

One key piece missing from Rick's chart is the fare needed to use miles to upgrade. On AA, almost any fare can be upgraded by any flyer, but there are a few exceptions (O fares come to mind). There is a $150 pp one way fee to upgrade on AA to Hawaii using miles. The fee is $50 pp one-way for domestic flights. Not sure about the Caribbean.

On DL, I believe you must have elite status to upgrade using miles unless you paid full fare. Not sure on US.

Your best best is to comb through the website of each airline and then go to flyertalk.com so that the very experineced flyer on that board can help you understand what it means for each airline.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

I have my own personal cheat sheet for Delta, NWA, American and United at home with miles required and minimum fare class required etc.

If no one has answered your question by Thur I check my sheet when I get home.

I don't follow US Air so I do not know much about their FF flyer upgrade program.

Delta to Hawaii and Carib

Hawaii
Miles required 7,500 OW Full fare(Y booking class)

Miles required 15,000 OW Disc fare(B,M booking class)

Buy upgrades at the gate if available(K booking class or higher)(excludes 3 lowest fare classes which are T,U,L.)

Carib.

Same general fare class requirements mention above but
Miles required 5,000 OW Full fare

Miles required 10,000 OW Disc fare.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Things are constantly changing in the airline industry so this could be somewhat out of date.
