Increased RCI fees for the new year

Well, I should have expected it... New year, new fees for RCI exchanges.

I did an exchange today and found that the exchange fee for dealing with a live person is now $199 (had been $179 or $189 to deal with a person). To combine resort value points now costs $109 (had been $99). WOW - the travel insurance stayed the same!

How about the listing days for Last Call vacations... I checked Last Call vacations on Dec 31 - could see to Feb 11-12 weekend. But today, there is availability only through the end of January. I asked the live person I was talking with & she said it was now 30 days for people that joined RCI after 2005. I have been a member since 2000 but she could not explain why I was being included with those members after 2005...

Did anyone get an email regarding the fee increases & the change in the number of days in the Last Call vacation listing? I didn't. Had I known there was going to be an increase, I would have done the exchange by Dec 31...

It was already $199 to exchange through a VG. The online price increased from $179 to $189.

The price increase was reported here almost a month ago, but RCI didn't make any official announcements (to individuals anyway) that I know of. It pays to read TUG regularly. ;)

Undoubtedly, they have decided that it is better for them to rent those weeks to someone else, probably non-members, but possibly also at higher prices to members as well. With Rents Condos Instead, non-membership has its priveleges!

Yet you remain an RCI member after hundreds of RCI hate posts.

While they may not be trustworthy for exchanges, as I have pointed out before, you can still score some cheap rentals there, so I am letting my membership wind down.
