Within the next 2 weeks, my district expects to be in a "yellow" zone (certain percentage of positivity in the community). When that happens, in order to allow schools to stay open, 20% of the school population (staff + students) will have to be Covid tested weekly. That is about 2,000 in my district. I was told the school nurses will be doing this, along with sub nurses they are going to bring in. We need to take a 2 hour video course. It will be a rapid test, and reported directly to the state DOH. Parental consent will be required. My superintendent feels very strongly that schools should stay open, especially since it is an underserved district, so we are going to undertake this task. They have provided us with enough PPE, so I am not worried about myself. I just have a generalized anxiety that it is heating up again.
