Hi all,

I am new to timeshare ownership, in particular Wyndham. I have done lots of reading on this board and it's been very helpful to me.

My question:
I didn't use any of my Wyndham points and therefore have 166,000 points that will expire the end of December. I understand the only thing I can do is to deposit the points for weeks with RCI. First, is this my only option, and second, how can I get the most out of my points?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At this late date, your only option is to use them or bank them with RCI.

I would bank 2 - 70,000pt weeks and 1-28,000pt week...since you have points to burn.

Or if you want to stretch these to the maximum usage (and you are planning on doing ongoing searches 1yr - 2 yrs in advance or book something in the 180 day or less timeframe) you can bank 5 - 28,000 pt weeks into RCI for 5 weeks of travel.

Don't deposit 3 weeks. Bank 4 28k, 1 42k, then post the point for rent, rent out your 2009, 2010 points. Use 5 week to make exchange on overbuild area, Hawaii, Mexico, Orlando, Las Vagas, Williamsburg, Banson.

Thank you both for your advice. I have a couple of more questions based on your replies. First, can I offer any of these weeks out to rent or give them to family/friends? For example, grab a week in Orlando and then rent it to someone or give it away? Second, where can I sell my 2009/10 points?

You can't rent your RCI obtained exchanges, but you can rent out your 2009 and 2010 Wyndham points, provided you find a renter.

Try the Wyndham forum for more into on renting out points. You can likely rent it here to recover your fees, but not much more.

Thanks for the link -- BUT, I've tried registering four times. I have given up, there doesn't seem to be anyway to contact anyone to find out what is going on with my registration attempts.

With the NEW Wyndham rules, you can only rent your 2009 Points if you transfer them BEFORE March 1, 2009.:(

More questions

Thanks to all for your great advice. I logged into my account online and went to the RCI/II Deposit form and have questions on the following points listed on that page:

"Worldwide Exchange deposits require a reservation transaction. If you do not have any reservation transactions available, a $30 fee will be charged to your account for deposits made online and $59 for deposits made by calling a Vacation Planning Counselor."

Question: Does this mean I have to pay $30 for each week I request? How do I know if I have any reservation transactions available?

"If you need additional points or housekeeping credits to complete your deposit, please contact a Vacation Planning Counselor. Deposits submitted online that require additional points or housekeeping credits will be declined."

Question: How many housekeeping credits do I need for each deposit?

Thanks again in advance,
Rick

Every 77k give you one free transaction, and every 1k give you 1 free HK credit.

Since you have not use the points for this year, you should be O.K.

At the end of the transaction, the computer will ask you for the moeny if you are short on some ofit.

After you deposit to RCI, call Wyndham and have all 2009 points deposit to credit pool if you want or make a 2009 reservation if you know what to do with it. You have to deposit them to credit pool (if that is what you want) before your use year starts since you are not VIP member and now they take away your point transfer ability.
