Until We Saw Tiger King, DW and I Were About to Pay $900 To Pet Cubs and Get Pics at TIGERS in MB

Mrytle Beach is one of my favorite places to visit. Tigers are my DW’s favorite animals.

Before watching Tiger King, DW and I were going to pay $440 each to pet Tiger Cubs and take pictures with them at TIGERS in Myrtle Beach.

Turns out that the owner is a perv who uses Tiger Cubs to lure young women into his harem. He also pays his workers $100/week for 80 hours of work/week.

I know nothing about this park so I googled it. From what I can decipher the park owner has never been accused by authorities of those things. The accusations were made by one individual. The park is open.

Not saying that all of that isn’t true, just that there may be much more to the story.

If an employee lives at the TIGERS preserve and gets food and clothing charged by the owner, that is complaint with the laws but still exploitative. My best guess is that, by the paperwork, the owner pays minimum wage but charges for the Lodging and food, so it comes out to $100/week. It’s Important he never denied paying his workers $100/week.

Also, when you see her photos, it’s clear she’s not a nanny, as Antle claims, but a worker. She has pics of her in sexy animal prints with many tigers and customers.

I knew nothing about this 30 minutes ago so maybe I am missing something. From what I have read, just wondering why, if her accusations are true, is she the only one? She says she was lucky to escape but her own explanation of how she “got out” looks as benign as could be.

Angle was also accused of euthanizing the cubs once they got too old to be used in the cub petting business. Joe Exotic admitted Angle taught him how to monetize cub petting.

I’m not trying to be confrontational, I’m just the type that likes to see hard facts. The euthanizing of tiger cubs appears to come from just one person, this other guy Joe Exotic, and it sounds like he isn’t the trust worthy type himself. He also hasn’t been consistent in his claims.

“A representative of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals says in the series finale that Joe Exotic told her he knows Antle euthanizes and incinerates tigers, though Exotic previously told The Sun News the exact opposite — that he knew for a fact Antle didn’t euthanize tiger cubs because a lot of those cubs ended up at his facility.”

Antle has denied euthanizing any animals. Below is a quote.

“Antle said most tigers born at their facility stay through adulthood and are either featured on tours or used in their breeding program, while others are donated to accredited zoological facilities, but he gets far more requests for tigers than he could possible fulfill.“

If I am the only one questioning this it must be me. I’ll watch the Netflix show.

Their stunts and reporting are so obviously biased that I would never just take them at face value. In that respect, I do have some skepticism along the same lines as RXB. No access to Netflix, so will have to just let this lie and let others come to more definitive proofs and conclusions.

I don’t think Doc Antle would kill older Tiger Cubs as thats a quick way to go to jail. It does seem like he lived a playboy lifestyle when younger.

Tiger world inaccurately portrayed current young women as his sex partners, but those young women were his son’s or grandson’s girlfriends.

I saved $60/month since cutting the cord. $40/month if you count the $20/month I spend on Netflix and Disney Plus. That goes toward MF.

We cut the cord too. But between Prime and Disney+, I think we have enough. Though I can't believe I wasted over four hours watching The Mandalorian.

I totally agree. We watched the first 3-4 episodes and thought that these have to be the strangest people on the planet. Back to Ozark, where life is closer to normal.

Just finished watching Tiger King. Wow just cannot make this stuff up! Although I know scenes may not be true "reality," it brings into question the motivations of the "Tiger Rescue" people trying to close him down.

It reminds me of The Great Gatsby in which everyone mistakenly thinks Gatsby is the bad guy because of his quirks and he has made errors, but Daisy is truly the bad guy.

I feel for the tigers and wild animals who suffer - no matter which side they are on.

I ended up thinking they'd better really not be thinking of making a movie out of this horrible story because they'd have to use tigers to do it and the tigers have already been exploited enough. It killed me to watch them using a ten foot hook to reach into the birthing den to immediately drag newly born cubs out and away from their mothers.
