PSA: United is now waiving re-deposit fees on all flights cancelled booked until May 31. Previously it was only if they cancelled the flight. Now if you cancel the reservation the redeposit fee is waived.

I just called. Got right through to MileagePlus desk and they cancelled and redeposited the miles with no fee. :cheer:

Suggest doing this now before they change their policy again.

This is UAL miles. No expiration. No strings attached. Just put points back into the account with other miles and refunded the $5.60 government tax to the credit card on file.

I suppose this is a way to keep their customers happy with little cash out of pocket. Also a way to guage how full flights will be because many people are waiting until 72 - 24 hours prior to flight before taking action in the hope of a cancellation and refund instead of a travel voucher with an expiration date that they may not use.

Yes I will call in the coming weeks to see what Kris Flyer is offering. I have an "illegal" itinerary which should get me my miles and taxes back but also have other miles expiring in December with them.

Good to know they came around. We cancelled UA award flights last week and they waived the fees even though others on FlyerTalk were reporting that they were still charging redeposit fees.
