I'm afraid her experience was not at all unusual. I've seen women sobbing in the sales room due to high pressure sales tactics - and sales staff kept hammering them to buy. Unfortunately, some people are simply too polite, embarrassed, shocked and/or stunned, or greedy, to walk out of such presentations. I can't believe the writer said she would go on another timeshare presentation - for a better prize next time!

The "deposit" requirement is not new. It's often touted as a good faith deposit so you will show up at your allotted time. "It wouldn't be fair to waste a salesperson's time, waiting around for a no show." Ridiculous!

We just spent a very rainy afternoon in Myrtle Beach (so we didn't feel it was a bad time to get a few bucks) at a Bluegreen presentation. Of course I came armed with theRedweek resale page on my Droid, told them we were there on a $199/week rental, had sold off 6 ownerships in the past 2 years (leaving us with jst 2 we love) and see the overall timeshare market as extremely depressed with rentals being cheap & most locations easy to obtain.

So we get told we'll get $75 Visa (low, but it was spur of the moment in the rain & we didn't push for more) if we take the "short" presentation for owners. Needless to say they spent the 90 minutes telling us how they don't have to tell us about the system(s) because we already own - then got to the sales push where we heard how great the closing rates are (70%+) and that they won't keep us tied up various sales people even as they did just that. So we enjoyed the drinks (soda), the treats & the popcorn and let them drone on. In the end we killed about 2 1/2 hours rather than 90 minutes, got our $75 card and saw the models. Of course we passed the one time only first day offers and now risk having to pay $35,850 for what we COULD have had for under a mere $20k. Of course we can buy it today for a few hundred or less on Redweek or here on TUG but that underlined $35,800 sure looked bad!

Overall they didn't lie anymore than average, didn't try to intimidate too much or bully us into a sale. Far from the worst and they have a decent product to offer. To earn $75 and free food for a rainy afternoon it was worth it to us.

Best thing is to bring a iPad, open up the eBay app and interrupt the presenter, hold up the iPad and ask why their timeshares are for sale for a dollar on eBay. Should get you out of there right quick....

This works best if you do this when all your fellow detainees are present.

Off topic- sorry. Where did you post the timeshares you sold? We have 4 which we are very attached to but need to do other things now.

Thanks in advance

Everywhere we could inexpensively. Craigs list, here and especially on the owners groups for the system / resort. We had the best responses from those.

I Resemble That Remark.

Believe it.

She is an obvious & natural candidate for membership in the International Association For The Absorption Of Timeshare Tour Freebies.
