Uber customer service

Recently came back from a trip to Europe. When taking Uber between Civitavecchia (port for Rome) and Rome airport, I got charged for the trip to the airport PLUS the trip my Uber driver apparently took from the Rome airport to Rome itself (maybe he picked up a customer who didn't use the app, or the driver decided to go have lunch in Rome...who knows). So I got charged $85 extra by Uber for this "unplanned detour."

I've tried reaching out to Uber customer service by phone, but none exists. (there is a phone number but it's for Uber drivers, not riders. Another phone number I found has a message saying this number is no longer valid.). I tried reaching out to Uber customer service through their app, but got a canned response saying this trip is not eligible for a refund. (I only need the $85 refunded, not the entire amount of $277). I reached out to Chase customer service to dispute the charge, and Chase is telling me I can't dispute the charge unless I have a physical receipt. I'm going to still go through the steps of doing a dispute with Chase, but Chase is basically telling me it's pointless.

Does anyone have a customer service number for Uber? Any suggestions on how to proceed other than what I've already done?

Can you message them through Facebook? I have success in reaching a couple of companies that way when I did not have success via phone or email.

Not sure if it will help with a problem in Europe but when I had a problem in Florida last year I used this website (you need to log into your acct); https://help.uber.com/en/riders/section/account?nodeId=242203ff-f91d-44a5-96f9-fc6e64e8a731 and was able to get help -not to my satisfaction, but at least somebody looked into the problem.

It was the first time we had ever used Uber and I had ordered a ride from our condo to the bus stop at the other end of town. I had explained to DH days beforehand how it all worked and that I was putting my credit card into the app. I guess the stress of the trip and in the rush of getting the suitcases out of the car and to the waiting bus, DH forgot about the credit card thing and asked the driver how much for the ride. I was already on the bus and arranging our carry-ons, out of sight of DH and the car. The driver replied $40. even though I am sure he could tell I had paid for the trip ($25-30.) by credit card on his app. DH paid the driver in cash and plus tip for getting us to the bus in time! DH didn't tell me that he gave the driver cash until we were well away from the stop or I would have run out of the bus to the Uber car to argue with the driver. When I contacted Uber they said we paid for the trip on a credit card (which we did) and that the driver denied getting cash as well. Of course he did! We were not pleased and I complained loudly (using the driver's first name, type of car, date & time) on the St Augustine FB groups I am in and to anybody who would listen. I know it was DH's fault but the driver should have said no sir, the charge is on your credit card through the app.

UBER has no customer service! Not in their vocabulary. Long ago I too had a distasteful service issue and got absolutely nowhere with UBER. I would rather use a local car service and try to use LYFT.

I *second* LYFT. UBER is almost 100% computers, no technical support anywhere. Even UBER drivers can not get issues fixed. In terms of physical receipts, you can take a screen shot, e-mail it to yourself, and print it. Or e-mail the screen shot to them. The other advantage to LYFT is they run Walt Disney World's MINNIE VAN, where the LYFT app allows you to get a ride, but the driver is a WDW Cast Member.

I already used the online help. Got a standard reply that this fare is not eligible for a refund. If I now ask for any further help, there's a reply that we've already addressed this issue.

I found Uber Pride on Facebook. nothing posted since 2023 anyway, and Messenger doesn't work. No Uber presence on Instagram.

I think this just tells me to set up Lyft.

We've shifted to almost 100% LYFT. Especially outside of the US. We have requested an Uber in Mexico and had the driver refuse to pick us up unless we paid him in cash- then he dinged us for not being at the pick-up location.
