Typical Ski Resort Availability

Hello everyone!

I am sure there is a very nuanced answer to this question, which is why I am having a hard time finding a good resource.

I have been doing some research about Destination points on resale and was hoping to get feedback about ease of use with Marriott Destination Points. Particularly in terms of typical availability, even starting at the Ownership level at 10 month marks.

To help with my own ideal of what I "want to do": The pattern of booking would be generally flexible over the years amongst Marriott's various Ski resorts during semi-prime ski season (January-March, but willingly avoiding major holidays). I do not want to typically visit the same resort annually, I'd actually preferably eventually just be able to book a few days at a time and resort hop or split stay. I realize that's another question that may be only possible with higher tier status. Warm destination and international destinations would be lower priority in terms of points usage, but intermittent years I certainly would not be opposed to using points at those types of locations.

I am aware of the need to plan adequately well in advance and to have a bit of flexibility. Both of which would not be a problem for me career wise.

I'm just wondering if Destination points actually can be used in this sort of pattern, or if everything is actually incredibly difficult to book for low tier statuses and it is really a non-starter.

Thanks for the help!

I would think so, but primarily based on our weeks bookings. You can easily get the first week in January anywhere you want, and likely late March weeks. In between will be more difficult, but my guess is with mid-week short stays, there will be sufficient availability. I have added on days using DC points pretty much at will for ski destinations. Hopefully someone who has tried this more consistently with points could confirm (or not).

I would also be willing to supplement the trip with using $ with your Owner discount, which could be as much as 35%off. The rental pool of rooms is separate from the points based rooms.
