Thought it would be fun for those who are interested to post where we are traveling this year and have a coffee or beer in person for those comfortable with sharing details on trips. Has this been suggested before? I may not be considering all facets of posting this kind of info on such a public forum.

Well, you only showed up during the 2020 non-travel year, but there have been LOTS of TUG get togethers. Generally in places like Orlando, Lahaina, Williamsburg, Las Vegas, there have been even several TUG cruises. As we get traveling, they will happen again.

For sure - but I am more talking about informal meetings with just a few who happen to be staying at the same resort at the same time.

As you travel, just post, "I'm at _____________________. Anybody here wanna get a coffee or????" It might work. Or wear a TUG T-shirt around the property. That will make a hit with the sales staff, too.

Sure, those kinds of meetings happen. Whichever timeshare you're visiting, post in that TUG forum (Marriott, Vistana, Eastern, etc) the dates you'll be there and others who are there at the same time and want to get together will let you know.

I have also had TUGGers who know where I live let me know when they are going to be in the area. Sometimes I`m able to meet up, sometimes not.

I'd say you'd want a private forum, so someone randomly googling couldn't find out when you are gone from your house?

Given that TUG uses usernames, it would be hard to match up a person with their TUG persona. Some of course would be easier than others.

There is a thread for this in the Lounge section, called Sisterhood of the travelling Tuggers. It is a little out of date, probably mostly due to the lack of travel in the last 15+ months.

I am not as planned out as you, and still have a day job. Only a HHI vacation this summer and some long weekend trips all within driving distance.

HHI, Ocean Oak -- 7/2-11
Virginia Beach, Ocean Key Resort -- 7/29 to 8/2 (have a rare 2BR booked here for the first time)
West Virginia, Land of Canaan Vacation Resort -- 9/2 to 9/6 (first trip here)
Some timeshare in Williamsburg, VA -- 11/24-29 [have not booked yet]
MLK Weekend, Massanutten, VA [have not booked yet]
President's Day Weekend , Massanutten, VA [have not booked yet]
NYC, the Manhattan Club -- 4/1-5

Maybe I should look in other group's forums more. I stay exchange into Wyndham properties fairly frequently, but really do not follow their forum here on TUG.

Just by chance, I met a fellow TUGger in the hot tub today. We got to talking and this couple knew way too much about timeshares to not be a TUGger. I won’t share who it was (they are free to do so) but it was fun talking to someone in the know on both timeshare deals and other travel deals.

As an added bonus, they were super nice to and about our kids in the hot tub.

There was a thread a couple years back to report when you were going to be in other locations and perhaps coordinate meeting other Tuggers who may be there at the same time. I attended the last TUG meetup in Orlando back in 2019. The 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled. I have also met up with people over the years after learning we would be at the same resort at the same time and worked out a time and place to connect in DM. In fact, I met another Tugger last week while at Grande Vista.

I think meeting up is a nice idea. However, based upon the posting of vacations that I see, I get the idea that most tuggers are older and retired. It is tough for people still employed to make the meetings.

The posting of 'Hey - I am here at XXXX this week' sounds more promising.

I was in a TS presentation and the salesman asked how I knew so much about TS, and it turned out HE is a Tugger, too! Lolz. He let me out of the presentation early, since he knew I wasn't going to buy from him.

I've met a few Tuggers. Nice folks. And before Covid, I had figured I'd be able to meet up with a few others in my travels. Since Covid, so many plans changed, those new meetings aren't going to happen for awhile. I still have my list of "Tuggers I'd Like To Meet."
