I am very confused. I wan to pass this great site onto my fellow members at a resort in the Caribbean. It took forever to "marry" my User ID/password so that I could go to either www site.

My understanding is to belong to tug2.net costs $15/yr. Tugbbs.com is free. It gets complicated to have the same User ID/password.

It is further confusing to understand what one site offers as opposed to the other. A simple breakdown would be great.

Love, love, love both sites:)

http://www.tugbbs.com - BBS = bulletin board system (our discussion forums)

You should only have one user name and password that you use for all areas on TUG. If you have two different ones, then you have two accounts with TUG.

Are you perhaps thinking of the member's code that you add to your TUG profile (one time) when you join TUG? That's the only time you use it - it's not a password. Under your name it still says "guest" so if you have a paid membership, you haven't added the member code to your profile yet. Here's how to do that - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53

I have one username but two passwords - the original set up for the BBS, the other when I started to use the marketplace as well.

Actually users can have a different username for TUG2.net and tugbbs.com. You have to be mindful when creating your account for each that you use the same username for both. Everyone who belongs to TUG2.net and Tugbbs.com has two different accounts, the two are not tied together. You can't have just one account and be on both systems.

it is true that you can have different usernames and passwords for both sites, however if you follow the instructions given to all new members, they will be identical.

you also have the ability to change your passwords on both sites to whatever you wish (so if you do have different passwords now, you can change one or hte other to match)

your passwords wont ever get changed by us for any reason.

But there's a 'special' password you need for resort reviews, isn't there?
At least I'm always asked for it.

When you pay to join TUG, this enables you to enter the areas of the TUG website that are reserved for TUG Members, via the Members Login system at www.tug2.com/TUGMembers/Login.aspx, notably access to the member-submitted resort reviews and ratings and the ability to post ads in our Timeshare Marketplace.

The bulletin board at www.tugbbs.com, however, is NOT one of those Members-only areas, as it is available to TUG Members and non-members alike. The bulletin board is run on self-contained vBulletin software, whose database is not interconnected with the membership database. Consequently, the bulletin board has its own separate login system.

We have always recommended that our users choose the same usernames and passwords on both systems so that the same login parameters will work everywhere on TUG.
