I created this poll based on a few of questions from Interval International’s recent survey. The poll has 4 categories (how quickly will you resume travel, and the appeal of traveling by cruise, airplane, and car).

Some of their other survey questions:
How likely are you to travel within the upcoming time periods? (Within 3mo, 6mo, 9mo, 12mo, or longer)
How likely are you to do each of the following with Interval International within the next 12 months? (Exchange your week or Buy a Getaway)
How has the current situation impacted your satisfaction with your timeshare ownership?
How likely are you to purchase additional vacation time (weeks or points) in the future?

Too complicated.
Besides, I haven't decided, yet.

Our prior pattern: WDW every year (drive), EOY 3 weeks Europe (fly-cruise), cruise (Carib. EOY), plus driving timeshare trips on off Europe years.
New normal: hoping for WDW in Aug. Cancelled Sept 3 weeks Europe (fly-cruise), and no Europe or cruising until vaccine. Limited flying-possibility only college kids-will wear gloves, N95 mask. Will utilize timeshares. Added Key West in Dec (we'll drive 17 hours). Planning Hawaii which requires a flight (US hospital available) instead of Europe Fall 2021-.
All 1st world luxuries, feel somewhat guilty even planning anything with so many is dire situations.

Because the travel policies of each individual country are bound to be different for awhile, staying closer to home seems to be less uncertain in the short term. We have never been passionate cruisers so nothing has changed for us there. In the past, a drive to location wasn't quite as appealing to me as some far flung place, but now it just seems so much easier if we need to reschedule. We are also willing to drive further than before. We have a Tahoe week booked in Sept (fingers crossed). Usually we would just book the quick flight to Reno but we are absolutely planning to drive this time (10 hours).

hmmm, where are the "none of the above" or "I have no idea yet" or "too soon to have an opinion" options? I would be selecting one of those!
Yes but that wasn’t an options offered on Interval International’s survey which this poll is based on ;).

Of course, folks might change their mind later depending on how things develop but the survey basically wanted to know, right now, how do you feel about travel?

We were planning on taking granddaughter on spring break trip but I haven't made a request. I don't know if we will want to be at a resort with a crowd of people. We might not timeshare this time.

Yesterday we canceled the Mediterranean cruise we had booked for June 2021. I'm not optimistic that the situation will have improved enough by then to be comfortable to fly overseas and go on a cruise. If things change dramatically for the better by then (wouldn't that be nice!) then we can always re-book. If not, then we'll wait another year or two. Europe will still be there!

No Hawaii or cruise traveling until further notice by order of my Commander in Chief. Their goes my transatlantic cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Rome next year. I am not a happy camper.

Hopefully you’ll get to go the following year. :)

Can't use the RCI trade value because everything is closed. I drive anywhere in the mid Atlantic & northeast US. I lost money on having to cancel an exchange in March to Hershey & they tell me that exchange value expires July 2020.

Dd and I have a river cruise planned for May 2021. Dd is saying it might be better for us to postpone until 2022. We can cancel (and get 100% of costs towards a future cruise) up to 24 hours before the cruise starts so we don't have to make any decisions right away. My question, and I have asked it, is what about the insurance? Can we change the dates on that?

Came back to report that I heard back from the company where we got insurance. They said changes will be handled on a case by case basis.

I think that is just to make an exchange, not to travel. You should call or do online chat for RCI. They have also changed their procedures now. You might be able to get a longer time to exchange.

My vote was that we will slowly get back into travel. However, the appeal of cruising, airplanes and driving are all the same. The virus has not affected how I want to travel. Once I am ready to travel again, I think my patterns may be similar to before. The only thing that might change for a few years is international travel to far away places. I might limit that for a few years because I am worried about getting stuck somewhere. I do have a Fiji trip planned for May 2021 but that is an exception. Mostly, I think we will increase US travel like to Hawaii and Florida and maybe even try places like Hilton Head, where we have not yet been. The other places I would feel comfortable visiting when I am ready to travel would be the Caribbean and Mexico. I would just want to stay "closer" to home until my confidence increases with the airlines, resorts and local infrastructure.

We're not even thinking about it now. Definitely no airplanes or cruises until there's a vaccine and it's shown to be trustworthy. Possibly driving vacations sooner than that if exposure rate drops really a lot.

We are still fairly young, and are both working as essential employees. We expect to be infected long before a vaccine becomes available. Assuming neither of us falls in the unlucky group of thirty-somethings to die from this virus, we will resume travel as soon as possible after we recover. We'll likely stay domestic (and off of cruise ships, sadly) until the risk of being stuck far from home is lower. Until then, our anticipated travel is pretty much nil - if we are somehow not infected quickly through work, I predict a lot of driving distance camping in the next year.
