I usually say that every timeshare vacationer should read TUG carefully for 3-6 months before considering a purchase. TUG is your best resource for general timeshare knowledge. The resort specific groups may have much better information that only applies to that resort. Resort specific groups also help with renting or rental wanted.

Be careful: The 80/20 rule applies. 80% of the knowledge in TUG is presented by 20% of the knowledgeable and helpful members. 80% of the posts on Facebook may be wrong or people looking to hear themselves talk without any real knowledge to share. If you read TUG for a month you will recognize gems like Steven Ting, Dioxide45,Jabberwocky, Tug Brian, Denise M and a a few dozen others. TUG works because these people share their knowledge.

Very true! While I belong to a few of the FB groups for resorts I frequent or want info. about, they're clearly a lot of self professed experts, and many posts with marginal or just plain misinformation. I find the FB posts good for resort specific and area info., but for general timeshare info. they're severely lacking and frequently incorrect.
