TUG Mailbox: How can I increase capacity for messages?

I received too many PMs this week.
I got a "you have a message or PM on TUG" then
You have reached your capacity.
So I clicked on some messages and deleted

Now it says "You have 398 messages saved. You have capacity for 400 messages."

I think IConnections/Emmy used to have the same problem because everyone was PMing her.

Do I need to pay more money or send Brian PayPal money to have a larger capacity mailbox.
Or do I just need to check boxes, then click delete because 400 is the limits?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Flex

I've bumped up against the limit a few times too. Oddly, the 400 total is both in bound and outbound, so I've eliminated nearly all the outbound ones (I already knew what I said) and pruned a bunch of the inbound ones that are either old, or no longer relevant.

I think that after the advent of gmail and unlimited storage, we've all become used to just letting them pile up.

Unrelated, but curious, a few days ago, something (Win10?) caused my computer to lock up. So I did a hard restart. After it restarted, my email client went to the server and re-downloaded every email I've ever received over the last 5-6 years. Over 27,000 of them!!! It took almost 3 days with downtime, and the time it took me to delete 4 years of the oldest ones. Because the newest ones (since I got the current computer) are just mixed in with others of the same dates, I simply have duplicates!

My best guess would be:

when new versions of operations systems are released, they are initially beta tested, then used by employees "we eat our own dogfood" I think was the expression when I was hired to consult on Microsoft's SAP software installation in 1998.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display and two Windows pcs with me

I haven't worked a job in nearly 20 years so I am often confused about how computers work today

I have my settings setup to not save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default. This is editable through the Edit Options in the User CP. If there is a message that for some reason I do want to save in Sent Items, I can check that option on the individual message before sending it.

This is what I do. Of course, it would be better if I cleared it out before it got full, but it's so rare that it fills up, I just wait until that happens.

good tip on cleaning out your sent PMs as well if they arent things youd like to save.

1) I returned from the resort pool, I had numerous "ABC handle on TUG sent you a message BUT your mailbox is full"

2) I randomly deleted old messages to make some space even though I would have preferred to review and save information in case it is needed (contact phone numbers etc)

3) Do I need to inform those people that I was notified they attempted to PM me and to ask them to please "try again"

4) Perhaps I should only reply to PM's via the "email option" instead of PM only option

5) Does the amount of characters cause us to reach the limit sooner? Or is it just a 400 message limit for inbox/sent items combined

has no bearing on the size of the messages...just the message count itself.

I suggest using a "VBulletin Private Message Reader" utility to download your PM messages so you can read them later. Here is one such utility:
http://download.cnet.com/vBulletin-PM-Reader/3000-2367_4-10612431.html

I used to have such a PM reading utility on my desktop machine, but I have since bought a new computer. I should have transferred the utility, and my downloaded PMs, to my new machine. But, I forgot. (Probably, I still have them somewhere.)

that said, this version of the forum cant run forever...so we will eventually have to upgrade to a newer and more modern software that i have no doubt will provide tons more capability (and ease of management).
