I recently called the TSA station at Logan because I wanted to bring a box of drinking glasses in my carryon as part of a shower gift for my soon to be niece. I was amazed that I got a call back to my message and the answer was yes, I could bring them. Actually, I was surprised on both counts. But I got through the screening with no problems at all.

Looks like TSA is trying to be more user friendly and responsive.

This reminds me of the joke about the free medical care availible at airports. They are giving free x-rays to everyone, and if you need a free rectal exam, just mention Al-Quaeda.
