This last December we attended two live theater events in Kauai that were a blast and cheap.

We attended the musical version of Scrooge at Koloa Union Church. So good we went twice. Free munchies and a chance to talk story with the cast.

Anyway, the audience was encouraged to boo and hiss the villain, Scrooge, and pretty soon the cast starts playing off the audience. On the second night, my wife received the blue ribbon for the best booer in the audience. :hysterical:

It was a great way to vent frustrations.

Pastor (Kahu) Rennie Maui was a Hollywood Producer in his previous life. The show definitely was not amateur.:cheer: :cheer:

The second show we attended was put on by the Kauai Community Players at their warehouse site in Puhi (downhill from the Harley dealer and college) It was about the antics in a small Texas town that was putting on their annual Christmas play. A real hoot hearing Hawaiians trying to imitate a Texas drawl.

Buy a local newspaper on your next Hawaii trip and check out the small print in the back for these venues and also do a google for local entertainment.

These two shows were really entertaining.

Thanks for the advice - this could be something we will look into doing in Nov during our first trip to Kauai.
