I've got a week booked with an AC into Oceana Palms next week. I called Interval for learn my options and I currently don't have any. He downplayed the storm. He said he is in Miami and it is no big deal. They have not been issued instructions yet regarding cancellation and/or rebooking.

I guess I'll just monitor the path but my fishing trip is already toast.

Next week? Checking in when? It is supposed to hit Florida this weekend.

Checking in Sunday. Just got a warning email from Marriott. Maybe Interval will allow a rebooking now.

Check your flights, too. The hurricane will be right offshore on Sunday. Depending on the wind, they could close the bridges over to the barrier island.

Personally I would go. The track just keeps shifting further and further east. I doubt it even makes a landfall in Florida at this point.

No kidding. Probably murder hornets on the beach once the storm goes away.

I"m on the phone with Interval. FL gov has just declared state of emergency. This was the one time Corona cancel AC so he's saying they can re-trade but I have to pay an exchange fee and use it by the end of August. He keeps saying you're so close to check in. I said I didn't know about the storm any earlier.

A friend who lives on the east coast of Florida just posted and one of the comments was: "All of the models are now indicating a more westward movement over the state of FL." That comment was posted 2 minutes ago. It sounds to me that the path is really unknown at this point.

I cancelled my flights. Interval is no help. The reservation is still alive and if they have to shut the resort down, Interval will help. I’ll try to claim it in my travel insurance on my credit card.

NOAA / NHC posts the projected path using what we call the "cone of uncertainty". They admit that forecasting the path of a hurricane is not an exact science. They post the most likely path of the eye, and a cone where they believe the eye may move anywhere within. Plus, you have to consider the diameter of the storm, not just the eye location. An eye 40 miles offshore for an 150 mile wide storm means the shore IS getting hit. The wind pushes the ocean water inland. It's called storm surge.. Worse than wind or rain. And, as said, the latest forecast has the eye right on the shoreline now, moving a bit west. Don't assume anything. I'll never forget when Punta Gorda got DESTROYED by what was supposed to be a lowly CAT2 hurricane as Charlie headed for Tampa. It took a wobble inland and wiped them out as a CAT3.

Probably the best thing for peace of mind. I had a feeling your flight would be diverted to Ft Myers and you'd be on a bus to the east coast.

The weather is perfect in San Diego so if I have to eat $300, I will.

Sorry about the cancellation. Man, 2020 just keeps on giving.

We did an overnight last week at the Hyatt on Mission Bay and it was perfect. I highly recommend it if you want a quick getaway. We were there on a Thursday night and they were at 22% occupancy. We had an entire pool to ourselves. Just a thought if you want a change of scenery.

Marriott just called to say the pool, beach and balconies will all be closed. I said II still won’t help me.

I’ll call again tomorrow and Karen my way up the ladder. Sorry Karen!

Maybe call again and see if you can get a rep that will be more helpful

It's about 8:30 am on Saturday. Anyone have some accurate weather updates this morning for Florida and the latest projected track ?
