I booked flights in November on American using miles.

Is trip insurance recommended when using miles?

Does the airline have a low cost way to insure you won't lose them? I know you can cancel with no penalty up to a certain time before use. I bet it's covered in their website.

My Travel insurance refunded me the cost to reinstate my AA miles. But that was at the start of Covid and AA may be waving the fee now.

My rule of thumb is are you willing to eat the cost if anything thing goes wrong. If you do get insurance read the fine print and see what their Covid policy is.

I had 2 big trips to European before Covid. So glad I had “cancel for anything“ travel insurance.
