I remember one of Gosh Gates' Expedition TV shows dealt with this.
I thought it was made-for-TV hogwash, but there was something to it?
Guess I should'a been looking.

Forrest Fenn, the man who hid the treasure, lives in Santa Fe, NM. So there always seems to be something in the papers about it. Two big articles in today's paper, one from a reporter who had been following the story for the last decade.

The man who found the treasure previously worked for the Onion

That's telling, isn't it? If the guy has been named, and he really did find it, then how about a photo or two of the treasure? Or details on where it was found? Seems just a shade suspicious to me.

I don't know about this. If you ever read the Onion, you know that the people who write it are super smart and informed. Lots of Ivy-educated writers and editors there.

I agree. My point was that since The Onion is mostly satire, maybe the guy didn't really find it. And if he did, maybe he should post something to show he really did find it. IF he did find it, then definite kudos to the guy. But there are a lot of frustrated treasure seekers out there who might appreciate knowing how he did it, etc.

He is named in a lawsuit by someone that thinks he hacked into their email and stole clues. Here's the article that I read this morning. https://www.outsideonline.com/2419429/forrest-fenn-treasure-jack-stuef
It looks like there will be some books written about it too.

I found it interesting that the guy who found the treasure tracked down video interviews that Forrest Fenn had given and played them over and over again to gather insight about him. He also said that he found clues by reading the poem over and over, approaching it differently than others who approached it as a puzzle. I think that the book will be an interesting look into Forrest Fenn - his motivation and what made him tick - and will be fascinating to read. I am surprised that others feel that they are owed information about the search, enough to file a lawsuit. It was a treasure hunt and they lost. People are weird sometimes.
