Travelex trip insurance on DVC is it worth it or are there better travel insurance companies?
For many years I have purchased MVC's Travelex insurance and the one time I had to use it was quite satisfied with the compensation and their service. Recently I've added an annual Allianz travel insurance policy because we are travelling more abroad (and Allianz has better medical and medical transport coverage).

That said, because DVC/Travelex's cost is fixed at $99 no matter how many points you own (in a given use year) for some people buying the Travelex insurance is a great deal. For others, not so much. But it also depends on what other insurance you carry.

I would add that if you are interested in buying the Travelex insurance you should buy it in a way that the pre-existing condition exclusion waiver applies. I quote...

"PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION EXCLUSION WAIVER
The Company will waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion if the following conditions are met:
(1) This plan is purchased within 3 days of payment of the Insured’s billing statement for Maintenance Charges;
(2) The Effective Date of this plan is the date following the termination date of a previous plan purchased through the Property Management Company."

I don't generally buy or recommend travel insurance. I do buy medical travel insurance. I figure if I can't afford to lose a trip, I shouldn't book it but I don't want a $50K evacuation event. Medical is much cheaper as well. That said, I do buy MVC's Travelex as it covers all MVC trips for the year for up to 8 people. I do not buy DVC's insurance as I wouldn't get the same volume benefit. I do have a CC that is my main card that provides quite good travel insurance as well comparatively speaking.

Do you mean that you don't own much DVC (or at least not much in the same Membership/Use Year) or something else that I am missing?

The OP may have been a drive-by. They made their post and left after 7 minutes and hasn't been back.

But back to travel insurance. The first thing one should decide is what, exactly do you want to insure against? Losing your points? Medical evacuation, trip cancellation? For how many people? Are there pre-existing conditions? And what other insurance coverages one has- like credit card, or other private coverages.

A one sentence ask is far too simple for a complex issue like insurance.

Marriott Vacation Club. They also have a fixed fee Travelex policy that reimburses the maintenance fee of points unable to be used for a covered reason as well as other travel incidentals.

It looks like they came back. It hadn't even been a whole 24 hours yet. Not everyone lives on TUG like some of us, me included :LOL:
