I called the Elite CS line about an options reservation and cancellation policies. (side note: I wish the website could show you what type & year of star options, e.g. banked or current year, were used for each reservation.)

Anyway, since we were talking about cancellation policies, the rep suggested I get 'protection' for my star options. He wasn't good at explaining it, but got out of him that it was Travelex insurance coverage at a cost of 20K options. He said any type of star option could be used, such as restricted and banked options. He really didn't have any info on what the benefits would be other than the cancellation fees would be covered if cancelling within 60 days of check-in. He didn't know if star options for cancelled trips would be returned unrestricted...just said they'd work with us in that case.

Just out of curiosity I checked the website dashboard, and found more info under the VSN Select "More Ways to Use Star Options" section. I don't have many options reservations for next year yet to make it worthwhile for me. Could be good for cancellations due to Covid...I didn't offhand see exclusions specific for Covid in the policy terms.

Note also the listed price of coverage is $199, old price perhaps? 20K star options will, for most owners, cost more than that.

Has anyone gotten this coverage and successfully been able to make claims against it?
Thanks

We got it last year to use some of the restricted options. We had bought it before because who knows. Never had to use it thankfully.
