Later this month we are scheduled to leave for Hawaii for 20 days. We booked most of the stays using Club Wyndham points, (1) thru RCI and (2) thru Air BNB. Unfortunately my father-in-law has taken ill and we are unsure about his long (or short) term well being. I have looked into some travel insurance in case we have to cancel or interrupt our trip. It is a grey area as to whether the insurance companies will reimburse for 'Vacation Club Points'. I know Wyndham offers some point protection butI found 2 companies that said they will but I can't find anything specific in the documentation.

Does anyone know anything about these insurance companies or can recommend one?

Since he is already sick, I doubt that any travel insurance you buy now will cover losses due to his illness.

I do not believe this to be true. The precondition clause applies to the insured- not the relatives of the insured who are not going on the trip. If something was to happen to a relative that is going on the trip and the insured had to cancel, it would be covered by most policies- as long as it is an immediate family member like a parent.

We use Generali Global Assistance for travel insurance and they cover timeshare maintenance fees. I do not know that "points" would be covered- you would have to show monetary loss- a bill of some sort.
