Does anyone know of travel insurance that covers a married couple traveling who has elderly parents who end up in the hospital or pass away during or right before the planned trip? Of course I understand this would have to be documented by a Dr., hospital, etc. My husband and I both have elderly parents in their 80's who live independently (for now) but seem to have a lot of health problems. I never know what the future may bring and can't afford to lose airfare, timeshare mf, exchange fees, etc when we take a trip. We have several planned for 2012.
Thanks.

Carolyn

Have you looked? You can compare travel insurance policies here: http://www.insuremytrip.com/

We usually use TravelGuard for this and all the other reasons one buys travel insurance. Especially check the requirements regarding pre-existing conditions. It wouldn't be helpful if they considered your parent's age or physical condition pre-existing.

Most policies do cover the sudden illness or death of a close relative of you or your traveling companion.

Carolyn,

If you haven't already - go to the Tug Travel Forum.

Near the top of the Travel Forum is a 'Sticky' Link about Travel Insurance. Lots of good info there.
