I can not believe I have a category 5 travel certificates that expires in July. I just called to make a reservation for my daughter. They said only my husband and I can use it. I asked for a supervisor. She said the same thing. I asked for her boss. She said they would call in 3-4 days. But they don’t make exceptions. I’m disgusted with Marriott. It might be time to sell. Has anyone experienced this?

This would agree with what they told you. See 3.1.c

Is it close enough to drive? Check in with her then turn around and drive home.

One could book it and see if the hotel will add their name to check in. Their rules so they have the opportunity to waive them if they chose.

The key is to get them add for checkin as it says:

At check-in, the guest using the Award may be required to show valid identification and provide a credit card to the Participating Property for incidental charges.

You could just loan your daughter your CC and do not think Marriott ask for photo ID at check-in.

Even though the policy is only the named rewards member, and it will also not allow you to self-change it online, you can still do it. Remember, Marriott does not own these properties. All you have to do is call the front desk and let them know that someone else will be checking in first. I have never heard of any front desk saying no. They put it in the notes and when the person arrives they check them in. I realize that officially this is against the rules but it is up to the properties to enforce those rules. Since I have to sometimes fight tooth and nail to get a supposed "guaranteed" late check-out, only to be denied some of the time, I am not going to be a stickler of the rules if the hotels don't even care about following them themselves.
