Has anyone arrived in Maui during the 14 day mandatory quarantine? For example, Can you arrange your owner Uber to resort? Marriott didn’t know.
That is a good question. One which my husband and I spoke about recently with the thought of Hawaii opening up to tourists. I am going to give our thoughts on this in view of the 14 day quarantine and also even if it has already been lifted when we go to Hawaii.
We have decided that we won't go to Hawaii if the 14 day quarantine was still in effect for all arrivals. If there is an exemption for those that have a negative coronavirus test result we would get the test and go. However, to prevent arrivals that don't have a negative corona virus test result from contaminating buses, cars, cabs or Ubers they should be escorted to their accomodations for the 14 day quarantine. Keeping them in their accomodations is another challenge. Perhaps the one swipe key is a good but leaving one person in the room to open the door would defeat that and some accomodations don't have swipe keys so staff of the accomodations would have to let you in and not give you a key to make that work.
Whether the 14 day quarantine is lifted or not when we go we would still have concerns about getting around. We usually take a cab to the Hilton Hawaiian Village and then think nothing about staying for months either walking or taking the bus when we are going too far to walk or at night when we don't want to walk. How are we going to get around? Buses, Cabs and Ubers can be contaminated from others. Renting a car for the amount of time we stay is economically prohibitive.
