Is it necessary to pay a closing company to transfer an ownership of a timeshare to my son ? This would be for the Swallowtail resort on Hilton Head. I am not sure of the procedure to follow and do not want to waste $$ on a broker if it is not necessary. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

John,
I just used an attorney for a recent purchase on HHI that has a staff that is superb! He was very knowledgable on TSs. He was very open to me calling him when I felt the need to, and called me back promptly when I could not reach him. I am sure you could get reasonable advice from him on the best way to go. PM me if you need information....

I would contact the resort and the county registrar of deeds. With this sort of a transaction, you may well be able to avoid attorney's fees by executing a quit claim deed and registering it yourself.

The resort may have a transfer fee.
